Our tree surgeons have been extremely busy this week carrying out tree clearance on a landlocked site in Dundee. The site in question is 2 very overgrown gardens surrounded by 4ft walls on all sides. Due to this, all material resulting from the tree clearance had to be taken over the wall.
In most cases, this was achieved by manpower alone, with 4 workers on-site at all times. However, when it came to the heavier timber, a tractor was used to lift this clear of the wall. Once on the other side, the waste could be removed for recycling. The smaller material chipped and sent back to the yard for recycling into mulch, or to be used for biomass. The larger material can be processed into useable firewood.
Whilst not the largest site clearance in Dundee that we have carried out, it has certainly been one of the most time consuming due to the poor access. A total of 30 man-days has been allowed for the project from start to finish.
Risk Assessment & Site Survey for Tree Clearance
Prior to the site clearance of trees, Dundee Council was informed of the works, and permission granted for tree removal within a conservation area. The next stage involved a risk assessment of the entire site, ensuring safety for our workforce at all times. In addition a full survey of the trees was carried out, including the inspection of nests and any potential bat roosts. Once this time-consuming but important process was complete, the go-ahead could be given for the site clearance to begin.
